Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my site.
I have always been a great lover of photography and taking pictures. I can remember as a little girl literally photographing EVERYTHING. Family, friends, soft toys, dolls, and pets all became my subject matter.
At the age of 7 I can remember saying that I wanted to be a photographer when I grew up.
However, there was a brief period where being a dolphin trainer suddenly seemed far more exciting, but I eventually went back to being a happysnapper and spent my early teens making lots of collages from all the photos I had of friends and family.
For me, my style of photography is mainly about capturing moments with a smile, of which there are so many in life. My favourite way to photograph is to literally document what happens in front of the camera, whether it’s a child playing or grandma laughing at a joke you’ve just told.
I love nothing more than creating images of people in happy moments, for them to keep forever. I do my best to be as unobtrusive as possible, so that you get a real record of the days occurrences.
Having an eye for telling a story through imagery means that I can quickly capture special memories, and try to anticipate moments as they happen.
I try to keep my equipment to a minimum, and don’t shoot in a studio environment. I like to use your surroundings as the backdrop, that way your photos are personal to you, and tell the story of your life.
I’m often asked why I choose to stay out of the studio…well there’s a few reasons really. I like your photos to hold strong memories, and I feel the best way to do this is by shooting within your environment, or a location of your choice – a place that has meaning to you. I feel this also brings character to the end result.
Also, I like to work with as little equipment as possible as I feel that the more ‘kit’ there is, the less personal, natural and relaxed you will feel (which in turn could effect your images). I do my best to shoot with natural light, although it’s not always entirely possible in grey olde blighty!
Finally, I simply much prefer to photograph outside of a studio! I really enjoy working within different environments and situations and photographing people and animals, creating images that tell a bit of a story.
For me, being out of a studio is the best way to do this. It’s how I work best because that’s where my passion lies, creating real images of real people in real situations, that have a smile to them.
